Centre for Baltic and East European Studies (CBEES) & Environmental Science and Development Graduate School at Södertörn University College (ESDGS)

CBEES and ESDGS seminars on Environmental Science and Development: The seminar series is arranged in collaboration between CBEES and the Environmental Science and Development Graduate School (ESDGS). The seminars are focussed on presenting and discussing current research on environmental issues and sustainable development in the Baltic Sea Region and are open to a wide academic audience. Seminar presentations are given both by invited Swedish and international experts as well as by researchers based at Södertörn University. At the end of each semester a seminar with presentations by PhD candidates from Södertörn University is arranged.

The seminars will be given in English.

12 February: Natural Resource Management and Development in Tanzania

Prof. Yunus Mgaya, University of Dar es Salaam, and Prof. Kari Lehtilä, Södertörn University

Professor Yunus Mgaya is a Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Dar es Salaam and  Dean of the Faculty of Aquatic Sciences. He also heads the Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute and holds many other important regional research and policy posts in this field. He has worked not only on coastal marine issues but also more generally on key issues facing natural resources management in Tanzania and has published extensively in local and international journals.
