Tutorials on information search strategies

The library offers free tutorials on critical information search strategies for all subjects at the university, primarily for courses and programmes, levels A and C.

During the 2013 Autumn semester the Library and Study Workshop together will be running the course Introduction to academic writing on level A. If you want your students to attend this fill out the form for bookning tutorials on information search strategies below. Availability for the course is limited.

Book a tutorial on critical information search strategies

The aim of library tutorials is to give students the opportunity to develop their skills in searching for, evaluating and use information at a scholarly level.

The tutorial sessions can be included from Bachelor's level (first-cycle) to Master's level (second-cycle) in connection to students writing essays, reports, assignments or making projects and therefore require literature and information over and above what course literature provides. Critical information search strategies may then be a natural part of a progressive learning process.

Booking of tutorial for fall semester 2013 is open until may 31. Please contact Ika Jorum or use the mailadress biblioteketsundervisning@sh.se for further questions.

Some of the themes discussed in the tutorials are:

  • criticism of sources, evaluation of search tools and sources of information
  • search tools and sources of information
  • search strategies for finding earlier research
  • different types of publications
  • writing references

All tutorials are free of charge for all the subjects and consist of 15–20 students most often. The tutorials is supposed to be planned collaboratively by teachers and librarians. Make a booking in the formula in the right menu.
